What the locals say…

Moran’s Gastro Bar

Being a visitor to the area, we asked around for somewhere to get a bite to eat. Moran's was recommended to us and from our visit, it was clear to see why. The pub is a lovely, cosy bar with a well executed addition to the back. The food was top notch and the service also very good. Would recommend without hesitation.

Can't fault Morans Bar of Ballintogher. Hugh the owner/ chef offers the height of hospiltality at this little bijou in the Sligo countryside! The bar & restaurant offer a Relaxing and cosy atmosphere. The food was fantastic, started with smokey potted prawns and followed by fantastic Tom yam Style seafood chowder. Service was on the ball and Morans boasts a great wine and drinks menu. I would highly recommend a visit.

They pull a fine pint of Guinness, even an American could tell the exceptional quality of it. Friendly service, friendly patrons. My wife and I could not have enjoyed our quiet Monday evening there more. We will be back on our next trip through Ballintogher!

Unbelievable fish and chips. One of the best I’ve had in a long time. Will be back.

A long overdue return to Morans and we will not leave it as long until next time! First time back since the fantastic extension and eating area. We were warmly greeted by Hugh and his lovely staff and enjoyed a yummy meal, we highly recommend the fish and chips! The atmosphere was so lovely, the place was buzzing but yet has that relaxed feel too. Looking forward to returning soon.

We were traveling from Galway to Donegal jumping on and off the Wild Atlantic way and heard of a small pub just outside Sligo town that had great pizza, we are Irish and have just come home after living in New York City and Brooklyn for the last 18 years, I know good pizza I have tried everything from Lombardis to table 87 over there.
We looked up google maps and figured out that it was nearly exactly half way from where we were traveling to.
When we arrived we were greeted by Hugh himself dressed half bartender half chef, really great personality. We sat outside and had two pizzas prepared by his Egyptian pizza chef, we could also see a lot of click and collect pizzas flying out and it was only 4.30 on a Saturday.
I have to say they were the best pizza’s we have had outside of New York, I don’t write reviews but felt compelled to for this, it’s hard to find really good pizza, well worth the trip.
His mother was was there as well a natural host and the locals including the cat, dog, two horses with two new foals and a Shetland pony for Hugh’s young son were just fantastic, a really really great local place to go, make the effort to check it out, thank you all.

In a country full of nice people Hugh Moran might be the most gracious host of all! I made an error on my reservation and owner Hugh Moran made the changes necessary to accommodate our large group (8) with grace and charm. Likewise his staff was equally considerate.
He has made a life-long customer! I want to thank you Mr. Moran!’

What a brilliant experience. A local entrepreneur providing a great wholesome menu choice in the rural Irish setting of County Sligo. Be minded that it's in a traditional and lovely Irish bar setting and currently serves food at weekends so check availability. Plenty of locals amongst the holidaymakers so that's a very good recommendation. The specials are exquisite so ask the friendly servers about the daily choice. It is a bar too and open pub hours for plenty of Irish including local products. The Guinness is top notch and should definitely be experienced here. Highly recommend!
